The debate about animal rights has become one of the great moral divides of our time. The first of two films examining British animal rights and why the public's perception of it is often far from the truth.

   

Until the 1960s exotic pets were regarded as a fashion accessory, as dumb objects, but throughout that decade to present day concern about animal cruelty gave rise to new concepts of animal treatment and liberation.
